Jurors

Sow to Sew Awards

For the second consecutive year, the Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation is generously providing three prizes to participating designers in NSCAD’s end-of-year Fashion Show.

These prizes, which recognize sustainability in design, excellence in material exploration, and outstanding innovation in design concept and execution, highlight individuals who demonstrate exceptional promise in these areas through their final collection.

Valued at $1,500 each, the prizes are a testament to NSCAD’s commitment to fostering excellence in fashion, adornment and design.

The finalists for these prizes were selected by a multidisciplinary jury of four professional artists practicing in the fields of fashion, design, metalsmithing, visual art and architecture.

Jane Abbott is an award-winning architect and partner at Abbott Brown Architects in Halifax, NS.
She teaches at Dalhousie School of Architecture and lectures widely on this subject. In a past life, she was a milliner.

Tabitha Osler is an educator, award-winning fashion designer, and the owner/operator of Fairchild, a sustainable fashion brand that champions the circular economy. It is based in the Maritimes.

Angela Henderson is a visual artist and educator living and working in Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Her artistic practice is grounded in sculpture and drawing, through which she explores themes of mapping, place, ecology, correspondence, and memory.

Jacky Oliver is an educator and an award-winning metalworker based in the UK. Though she trained as a jewelry designer, her passion is for the expanded medium of metal.
