Drawing on her experience as an artist, curator, and scholar in disability arts, and working with many examples, Eliza Chandler will deliver an interactive lecture positioning disability arts as political for how it provokes us to think about disability in unexpected ways. She will introduce ‘crip cultural practices,’ – novel approaches to making, exhibiting, and experiencing art rooted in disability culture.

In this discussion, Eliza will demonstrate how, as artists, designers, and curators, we can practice accessibility not as a means to assimilate disabled people into normative culture, but rather as a practice that contributes to collective, inter-generational, and intersectional world-making projects and works towards institutional and cultural change.
