About the Event

UPDATE: DUE TO THE WINTER STORM, THIS EVENT WILL RUN FOR ONE DAY ONLY.

Students are invited to participate in NSCAD’s two-day drawing marathon, Big Draw Night!

Participants will make panoramic, collaborative drawings in the Fountain Campus student lounge in response to a variety of prompts and themes, including found-object sculptures, large-scale still-life, live models, video projections, music, and verbal prompts.

This year’s Big Draw Night is hosted by visiting artists Shary Boyle and Sheila Provazza.

New time and date: Thursday, January 30; 9AM – 3AM

Location: D241

Event Format:

Each timeslot has a different drawing prompt based on this year’s theme, Imaginary Cities.

To ensure everyone has a chance to participate, the organizers have added two new morning sessions and more spots to previous sessions.

Students can sign up for a three-hour slot on Brightspace. Registration is encouraged for a more even distribution of attendance.

Updated prompts:

  • New! 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.: “What if the city was a living thing?”
  • New! 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.: What if the city reflected your relationship to water?”
  • 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.: What if there were only curves and soft edges in the city?
  • 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.: What if the city was filled with fuzzy, furry, textural species of all kinds?
  • 9 p.m. – 12 p.m.: What if the city was full of song?
