Schedule a portfolio review

At NSCAD University’s Portfolio Day, you’ll have the opportunity to receive helpful and encouraging feedback on your portfolio as you prepare to apply to study art and design with us. Whether you are applying for Fall 2024 and have a robust collection of artworks, or are still a few years away and are just starting to build up a portfolio, our feedback on Portfolio Day can give you a gentle push in the right direction.

Portfolio Day is a day for you to get to know NSCAD, and for us to get to know you!

What is a portfolio?

A portfolio is a collection of artwork that you have made that exemplifies your interests, commitment, and skills in art and design. Whether you paint, draw, sew, sculpt, animate, film, weave, print, or just plain make and create — it all belongs in your portfolio as a reflection of your artistic self. The portfolio that you submit when applying to NSCAD University demonstrates to the admissions committee your readiness to be a student here — we want to get to know you through your skills and your artwork!

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will meet students, staff, and faculty.

We plan a series of activities that:

  • Provide you with tips and feedback to strengthen your application.
  • Introduce you to current students, faculty and staff.
  • Familiarize you with our campuses and facilities.
  • Provide more information about student life at NSCAD.

Schedule for February 17th.

Location: NSCAD Port Campus – 1107 Marginal Road, Halifax.

The morning block will consist of campus tours, showing off our amazing facilities, and a series of presentations from faculty and alumni to help you get to know NSCAD — as well as gain some tips and tricks for applying to art school and strengthening your portfolio.

After we offer a break for a light lunch, the afternoon block is dedicated to Portfolio Reviews. You’ll be assigned a reviewer and a time to meet them!
