Let me talk to you man to man

Mendritzki offers, “Like a lot of girls, I would like to have the chance to talk to somebody man to man. I would be casual but firm, honest and unwavering. I would tell you what decency looks like. I would show you how beauty behaves. To engage with the history of art or the history of ideas, as a woman, is to interrupt a century-spanning conversation in which the rules of engagement and the topics of discussion have been set by men. Let me talk to you, man to man, about how this feels.”
Erica Mendritzki has recently joined the faculty at NSCAD University. She holds a BFA from Concordia University and an MFA from the University of Guelph. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and internationally, most recently at Platforms Project in Athens, Greece. A solo show of new work, I’m Hysterical, will be exhibited at Library Gallery in Winnipeg later this year. Mendritzki is a regular contributor to Border Crossings magazine, where she also serves on the Board of Directors.
