Ruthann Godollei is currently a 2019 Fulbright Canada Research Chair in printmaking at the University of Alberta where she is spending a sabbatical away from her position as the DeWitt Wallace Professor of Art at Macalaster College in St.Paul Minnesota. Godollei is a self-described printmaking muckraker as well as an author and educator. Her studio work reframes words and symbols churned by the media, providing them with a new context that just might reveal more truth than the context we’re accustomed to. Godollei melds her fine art practice with sign printing skills in unique combinations that include performance, installation, and activism. Her works advocate for both social change and personal reflection.

Godollei’s work is in collections such as the National Museum of Art, Poznañ, Poland, the Royal Museum of Fine Art, Antwerp, Belgium, Rutgers University, Syracuse University, the National University Library in Rijek, Croatia, KUMU National Art Museum of Estonia, the State Museum & Art Gallery, Penang, Malaysia, the Centre for Fine Print Research, Bristol, UK, the Frederick R. Weisman Museum at the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Museum of American Art and many more. She teaches studio art courses cross-listed with Women’s and Gender Studies, Political Science, and Sociology. She is the author of a book on DIY printmaking from Voyageurs Press 2013, How to Print Your Own… and co-author with Eric Dregni, of “Road Show: Art Cars & the Museum of the Streets,” from Speck Press.
