Students are invited to participate in NSCAD’s two-day drawing marathon, Big Draw Night!
Participants will make panoramic, collaborative drawings in the Fountain Campus student lounge in response to a variety of prompts and themes, including found-object sculptures, large-scale still-life, live models, video projections, music, and verbal prompts.
This year’s Big Draw Night is hosted by visiting artists Shary Boyle and Sheila Provazza.
Time: January 29 & 30, 3 p.m. – 3 a.m.

Event Format:
Each timeslot has a different drawing prompt based on this year’s theme, Imaginary Cities.
Students can sign up for a three-hour slot on Brightspace. One slot per person. Registration is encouraged for a more even distribution of attendance.
January 29, Marathon Day 1
- 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: What if the city was poetry?
- 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: What if the city reflected your relationship to water?
- 9:00 pm – 12:00 am: What if the city was a living thing?
- 12:00 am – 3:00 am: What if the city was quiet?
January 30, Marathon Day 2
- 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm: What if there were only curves and soft edges in the city?
- 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: What if the city was filled with fuzzy, furry, textural species of all kinds?
- 9:00 pm – 12:00 am: What if the city was full of song?
- 12:00 am – 3:00 am: What if the city was a body?
