NSCAD is excited to announce the ten finalists of the 2023 Student Art Award. This award recognizes and promotes exceptional work made by NSCAD students across ten disciplines at the university.

Carley Mullally (BFA 2015) found purpose in art during the pandemic. Their work is currently being exhibited at the SMU Art Gallery as part of a group exhibition called Crafts_Ship. The show features work by three artists from the South Shore, including Mullally, exploring the life of seafarers through various mediums.
The award has led Walker to reflect on what it means to be a teacher. “It is important we mentor in ways that push past the methods and examples we had, in hopes of achieving something even more progressive or just.”
Dr. Jayne Wark, a Professor in the Division of Art History and Contemporary Culture, has accumulated hundreds and hundreds of books in her 33-year career as a scholar.  Now in her last year at NSCAD, she is giving her book collection away to students.
