In Grid — Wiebke Schroederundergraduate exhibitor — Port Loggia
Artist Talk + Closing Reception: Friday, March 15, 4 PM
Photographer Wiebke Schroeder explores the seemingly incongruous relationship between our highly narcissistic desires and the literal boxes we put ourselves in. Fast growing urban and suburban landscapes are filled with by serial repetition from the balcony clad facades of warehouse like high-rises to row upon row of cookie cutter townhouses. In a time of digitization have we reduced existence to a set of pixels? Have we placed ourselves not only on the grid but in it? Schroeder utilizes straight photography and digitally constructed images in an installation that disrupts monotony through exaggeration, manipulation, and the creation of absurdly impossible architecture photographs.
