NSCAD University and Nocturne are a natural pairing in a creative city like Halifax. As the province’s leading cultural institution, it is no surprise that NSCAD alumni, faculty, staff, and students made significant contributions to the annual event, which ran from October 13 – 15, 2022. Nearly 40 individuals and groups connected to the university participated as artists in this year’s Nocturne. Members of the NSCAD community were also visible among Nocturne’s hard-working volunteers who make this amazing event possible.
National Truth and Reconciliation Day is a time to honour the Survivors of residential schools. NSCAD University will close it campuses on September 30 to allow our community members to begin or continue their awareness of the history and impact of residential schools, and to advance their understanding and compassion for reconciliation and healing.
NSCAD University’s Accessibility Advisory Committee is inviting applications from the community (both internal and external stakeholders) to join its ranks. At this time, we are especially seeking one faculty member, a current student, and an external stakeholder.
We are proud to share that Solomon Nagler, Professor of Media Arts and Film at NSCAD, has received a $75,000 Canada Foundation for Innovation JELF grant to fund the Community Mobile Media Lab (CMML).
Masks will be required in the library and in all indoor classrooms, studios and shops at all three NSCAD campuses, and are strongly encouraged in other common areas of our campus as well as the Art Store and the Anna Leonowens Gallery. Masks will be continue to be required for all Extended Studies courses.
NSCAD University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nicole Lee (she/her) as Assistant Professor, Art Education, Division of Art History and Contemporary Culture. Dr. Lee is an a/r/tographer (artist/researcher/teacher-educator) and curriculum theorist whose expertise is in artmaking and philosophizing in tandem to advance concepts.
